Nexus phones to be released by Google, LG at month’s end

The Optimus G, which was recently unveiled by LG, will be used as a blueprint for the electronic manufacturers own Nexus – smart phone, according to our sources. Google and LG have not decided on the name of the phone as yet, however it is learnt that the Optimus G’s specifications will be used to model the new product.

The Android operating system is currently one of the most sought-after platforms for mobile devices, and LG’s foray into the world of Nexus phone will help better position them for the American market. The company has had problems gaining the same popularity in the US as it enjoys across the world. The new Nexus device is expected to run on Android 4.2.

According to Modaco, some of the soon-to-be released phones features could potentially be the following:

  • 2 gigabytes of RAM
  • 280×768 True-High Definition IPS display
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor
  • No MicroSD slot
  • Non-removable battery
  • 8Gb – 16Gb internal storage
  • Build in Wireless charging

Although a step forward for LG, the lack of a MicroSD slot and only 16Gb of space, could turn some users away from the device.

Apart from LG, some sources indicate that other phone manufacturers may also get a slice of the Nexus program, with Samsung, Asus and HTC already cashing in.
