Razer Edge device blurs the lines at CES 2013

Technology company Razer announced its Edge device on January 8, 2013 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas USA. The convertible device is a one-of-a-kind gadget which can act as a gaming console, tablet and PC as well. The company had given people a taste of what was to come at the 2012 CES and then took on board feedback they had received from people on what they wanted the device to feature.

The handy little device looks like a tablet, but performs like a high-end gaming machine. It features a choice between an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, to go with its Nvidia GeForce GT640 LE graphics card, all running on Windows 8.

What stands out about the machine is its ability to transform into a variety of different devices. Dual-controllers stick on to the screen to give the user a feel of playing a large handheld game. The device can also be docked to a TV via an external HDMI connector and USB ports. Additional controllers can also be added to the device to give it the feel of an Xbox 360.

The Edge also features keyboard and battery add-ons that enhance its features and double it playtime. The device is priced at USD 999 for a very basic configuration, with higher-end bundles being priced at USD 1,299 and USD 1,499.
