LG to unveil Optimus G2 in 2013?

LG’s Optimus G turned a lot of heads in the tech world during its launch and now the South Korean manufacturer may be unveiling a successor to its much-hyped smartphone. According to reports, the fall of 2013 will see the advent of the LG Optimus G2, which will be based on the Android platform.

There has been some talk in the media that the new device could be unveiled at the MWC event at Barcelona and that the phone may be a second generation quad-core device. There is a possibility that LG is waiting for Google to release the next version of the Andoid OS, named 5.0 Key Lime Pie, after which the new phone could be announced in the market.

Rumors are doing the rounds that the new Optimus G2 could have a 1080p Full HD display along with the latest mobile processor from Qualcomm. These features would be supported by a backbone of solid hardware, which would make the device a great buy.

There is also talk in certain circles about the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7.7 being released sometime soon. The Nexus phones are manufactured by LG and branded by Google and could be announced at the Google I/O conference in May, 2013.

With these new releases, smartphones continue to get screen resolution upgrades with faster processors and the line between computers and mobile phones continues to get blurred.
