Google pushes new Glass technology – Invites people to help with development

Internet giant Google has been promoting its ‘Google Glass’ eye-wear under a new program called ‘If I Had Glass’. The tech giant has started pushing the new device with the help of a commercial and people have started taking notice.

The translucent eyepiece allows a user to do a multitude of things including view maps, send audio messages, use voice search, shoot video and take photographs. This is not all, users can also get directions in real time with the help of a graphic overlay.

The company is looking forward to getting people involved in the new technology. According to media reports, Google said, “We’re looking for bold, creative individuals who want to join us and be a part of shaping the future of Glass.” The company went on to say that they are looking at the new technology as being liberating and unobtrusive.

People can pick up Glass for USD 1,500 and become a ‘Glass Explorer’. The company has set February 27, 2013 as the deadline for anyone wanting to join Google in developing the new technology. According to a video demonstration of the product, it appears that Glass (as it is referred to by Google) is highly flexible and will come in a variety of colors like shale, cotton, sky, tangerine and charcoal.
