Samsung officially announces Galaxy S4 Active

After a long wait, South Korean company Samsung has announced the launch of Galaxy S4 Active. The company introduced a rugged phone with top-end specifications which is also water-proof. It seems that Samsung has given all it has to deliver the best new device with a tougher exterior, including IP67 dust and water-proof protection and a fully sealed design.

The specifications of Galaxy S4 Active include a 5-inch Full HD display, 1.9 GHz quad-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage with a 2-megapixel front camera and a 2,600 mAh battery. The only thing different is the rear camera, as Galaxy S4 Active sports an 8-megapixel one instead of the 13-megapixel version on the standard handset.

The Galaxy S4 Active has kept the 4G connection and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system. New, rugged features of the Galaxy S4 Active include three physical buttons below the screen.

The company has not revealed the exact release date of the newest smartphone, but it will most likely be out sometime in the summer of this year in selected markets. There is a possibility that the handset will be launched at a June 20, 2013 event in London.
