Samsung unveils Galaxy Tab 3 for children

On August 27, 2013, South Korean giant Samsung has announced a new device for children named the Galaxy Tab 3 Kids. The new tablet features bright colors with a 7-inch screen and comes preloaded with applications and content specifically intended for children. The new device will be available in Korea from the beginning of September 2013.

Except for the bright colors, all other features of the new device are pretty basic and it is powerd by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 1 GB of RAM. Other features of the device include a 3-megapixel camera on the rear, a 1-megapixel on the front – which means that even children will have access to video chat – as well as 8 GB of internal storage, which is plenty of storage space with a microSD slot.

No network connectivity has been provided, but the tablet connects to 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi on the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. This also comes loaded with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and the best part is that the company added a time management feature which will allow parents to set a specific time periods during which the tablet can be used.

After the Korean launch, the tablet will be available in China, Europe, Africa, South America and Southeast Asia shortly after. The company is yet to announce its pricing.
