Microsoft to launch Xbox One console on November 22, 2013

US-based software giant Microsoft has announced that it will launch its Xbox One game console on November 22, 2013. The next-gen console by Microsoft will be initially launched in 13 countries including UK, France, Spain, US, Ireland, Canada, Germany, Australia and New Zealand.

The company assured that the Xbox One will be launched in the remaining markets in early 2014. Microsoft has planned the timing of its next-gen console’s launch very close to that of its rival Sony’s PlayStation 4. The latest console by Sony will be available in North America on November 15, 2013.

The console launch war has been going on since 2006 and the last time both companies had fresh gaming devices on the market. Yusuf Mehdi, the Xbox’s marketing vice president has announced the company’s rollout plans in a statement. Mehdi said, “The culmination of many years of listening to you, our fans, developing innovative technology, and partnering with the best game and entertainment partners in the industry has brought us to this point”. He went on to say that there is plenty of work to be done, but the teams are making excellent progress and are focused on the launch.

The console’s CPU has been upgraded by 10% from, 1.6 GHz to 1.75 GHz. The console by Microsoft will be available for £429 in the UK market, while Sony’s device will be priced at £349.
