Amazon unveils new Kindle Fire HDX tablets in UK

Online retail giant Amazon has launched its latest tablet Kindle Fire HDX 7-inch and 8.9-inch tablets with an updated Kindle Fire HD in the UK market. The new range of tablets have been launched by the retailer in order to provide a tough competition to Apple and its iPad Mini 2, which is scheduled to be released next week.

The new Kindle devices are lighter and thinner when compared to the earlier ones and also come with Amazon’s new HDX display, which the company claims is the best one so far. The first device from the range is the Kindle Fire HDX which has a 7-inch display and boasts an impressive 1920 x 1200 resolution at 323ppi with 100 percent sRGB color accuracy, which means brighter and more vivid colors while looking at images or watching videos.

The device is powered by a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor and makes its three times faster than the earlier Kindle Fire devices. On the other hand, the HDX 8.9 is the lightest large-screen tablet and has a resolution of 2560 x 1600 at 339ppi, which means it features a higher resolution display than the HDX 7.

Both devices run on Amazon’s latest Fire OS 3.0 Mojito and will definitely be attractive to potential customers during the upcoming holiday season. The Kindle Fire HDX 7-inch will be priced at £199 for 16GB and Wi-Fi only, while the 4G version will be priced at £269. The HDX 8.9-inch will be priced at £329 for WiFi-only, while the 4G version will cost £399.
