British teenager buys photo of Xbox One for $735

A 19-year-old teenager from the UK was one of many gaming enthusiasts who was excited to get the new Xbox One. Peter Clatworthy was even saving money for the long-awaited purchase, but ended up getting just a picture of the console instead of the real device through an online purchase from eBay for $735. Day One editions on eBay UK was selling the next-gen console for $800 and upwards, so Clatworthy thought he was lucky when he found it for $735.

The listing in question had a red flag and the description stated that the item which was up for auction was a photo. However, the item was listed in the category meant for consoles and as the seller had solid feedback, Clatworthy decided to proceed with his purchase. Clatworthy said, “It said ‘photo’ and I was in two minds, but I looked at the description and the fact it was in the right category made me think it was genuine”.

When the package finally arrived, it looked much flatter and smaller than expected. When he opened it, he found a picture of the Xbox One with the words “Thank you for your purchase” in the back.

In addition to that, the picture sent was not even of good quality and looked like it was printed from a bad printer. Clatworthy has been told that he would get a full refund.
