Facebook launches Donate Now button to help non-profit organizations

US-based social networking giant Facebook has launched its new ‘Donate Now’ button in order to allow people to help several charities and non-profit organizations. The social network – with the locations of the Red Cross Typhoon Haiyan – launched a campaign to help the Philippines.

After the donation system was implemented, it has become a permanent part of the network. Facebook in a statement said, “The generosity of people around the world have seen and this is what everyone wants to donate to organizations to facilitate inspired us”. Users who want to donate their money can do so by going to non-profit organizations and the donate button will appear at the top of the Time Tunnel.

For the time being, the feature is available only in the United States, but it will be gradually rolled out everywhere else in the world. The button will collect credit card numbers and other billing information for the social network and will also help the company in the e-commerce and gaming initiatives.

The latest report is that 19 non-profit organizations will begin displaying the ‘Donate Now’ button at the top of their Facebook pages, as well as bottom of their News Feed posts. The donations will be accepted in a pop-up window on Facebook and users will be able to choose how much they want to give and enter payment details.
