Yahoo gearing up for video sharing platform launch

Internet giant Yahoo is planning to launch its own video sharing portal. Up until now, Google’s YouTube did not have any serious competition, but it seems like Yahoo is getting ready to spice things up on the market. The internet giant has been working on this plan for a long time.

The plan is currently in the works and the company is hoping that the project will be launched in the next couple of months. Yahoo is aiming towards taking advantage of the constant complaints by video creators, as well as owners who think that they do not make enough revenue from YouTube. The CEO of Yahoo, Marissa Mayer is looking to create a much bigger presence in Web video.

Under Mayer’s leadership, Yahoo attempted and failed to acquire France-based DailyMotion and has been constantly pushing a number of high-profile media initiatives, like adding TV star Katie Couric to its site. However creating an online video service is a big deal than just conceptual. Some of the sources from the industry said that Yahoo has been talking to individual YouTube stars, as well as some of the big networks on the major online video service.

Executives from Yahoo said to the video makers and owners that the company can offer them better revenue than they get on YouTube.
