Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus hit record 4 million in first day pre-orders

Apple breaks all records as iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus hit the 4 million mark in first day pre-orders.

The new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus by Apple are off to a flying start as the first day pre-orders reach 4 million. The new iPhones broke the iPhone 5 record set in 2012 when it received 2 million pre-orders on the first day. Apple announced that the phones will be up for pre-orders a week before the iPhone 6 hits retail stores on Friday, September 19, 2014.

The iPhone 6 will be available to ship within 7-10 business days while the iPhone 6 Plus customers will have to wait a month before they can get their hands on the 5.5 inch iPhone.

These are the first large screen iPhones released by iPhones. In 2010, former Apple CEO Steve Jobs had said that no one would buy a phone that wouldn’t fit in their hand. However, with changing times, Apple is having to adapt to the large screen smartphone culture that is currently ruling the world.

The iPhone 5S and 5C devices reportedly sold 9 million units within 3 days of its launch in 2013. With the trend seen in the pre-order of the new iPhones, the phones seem well on the way to beating that record by a huge margin.

Talking about the success of Apple’s flagship smartphone, Apple CEO, Tim Cook said, “iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are better in every way, and we are thrilled customers love them as much as we do.”

Over the last few months, companies like Samsung and Google has really eaten into Apple’s market share with large display smartphones. We will be waiting to see how the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus perform once it is finally launched. The iPhone 6 will be available in stores from Friday, September 19, 2014, while the iPhone 6 Plus will only be available sometime in October.
