Samsung makes smartwatch compatible with competitor smartphones

South Korean giant Samsung will soon make its smartwatch available to the competitors who use Google Inc’s mobile platform Android. With the recent introduction, Samsung is looking forward to increase its market share which is now dominated by Apple Inc.

The new Watch was launched by Samsung on August 31, 2015. The Gear S2 device comes with a mobile payment technology which is similar to Apple’s Watch. But the company has so far not given any price tag for the watch.
The good part is that the new smartwatch is compatible with smartphones made by the competitors and this can help to improve sales for Samsung. The global marketing head for Samsung for mobile said, “But we realise we can’t do it alone.”
Samsung in recent times has experienced a struggling time and with its market share sharply declining. The company experienced a decline shortly after its rival Apple Watch. With the launch of the Watch, Apple has managed to capture 75% of the global smartwatch market share followed by Samsung with just an 8 %. Research firm Strategy Analytics said that the Worldwide Smartphone Shipments has increased to 5 million during the second quarter of 2015 from one million in the same period in 2014.
