PayPal to take back services from Amazon Fire, Windows Phone and BlackBerry

American online payment system PayPal announced that it will shut down mobile apps for BlackBerry, Amazon Fire and Windows Phone from June 30, 2016. This means that the supported mobile operating systems will be on Android and iOS.
Paypal did not divulge much details but said that it was a tough decision to shut down the support but it has promised better apps for the remaining of its platforms. Joanna Lambert, the vice president for global consumers product and engineering at Paypal said , “[W]e believe it’s the right thing to ensure we are investing our resources in creating the very best experiences for our customers”.
The current Paypal app version has gone down but the users can still access the service through the Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge browsers. Even BlackBerry and Amazon Fire users can still log in to the site through mobile Web after the scheduled shutdown.
Reports say that the decision to shut down the service on the platforms does not come as a surprise and is not a move to abandon Amazon’s Fire phone. The development can also be viewed as a move to encourage increased usage. More transactions means more money received and the company had reported 1.41 billion transactions in the earlier quarter.
