Google Android 2.4 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system may debut this April

Gadget Herald: The Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread was released last Christmas which is just a couple of months back, but there are rumours which state, the world largest search engine will launch the next OS, Android 2.4 Ice Cream Sandwich in the month of April this year. The news has not yet been confirmed from Google but the rumours are insisting we may see a new Android soon.

The Honeycomb version was launched recently and is reported to be debuting with the Motorola Xoom tablet PC. The Honeycomb OS was officially built only for Tablet PC’s and the Gingerbread for enhanced smartphones, but there were features on both OS’s which were present and absent on each other.

One of the main reasons to launch the Android 2.4 Ice Cream Sandwich can be, as it could feature both the qualities of the Honeycomb and Gingerbread on one single OS, in short it will be bridging the gap between them. More reports suggest the new OS will have less coding involved and hence can be used on both smartphones and tablets.
