New Palm phone to be revived by end of 2018

Palm was once marketed as a smartphone that was better than the iPhone and ran on the software known as webOS and also featured a physical keyboard. However, the device faced an end after HP took over and resulted in the HP TouchPad which was a webOS tablet. People who loved Palm can now rejoice as TCL has acquired Palm from HP in 2015 but has not got the rights to webOS as LG had taken the ownership of it in 2013.

Three years later a new smartphone is in the pipeline and was first noticed by Android Police as new filings known as the Palm PVG100 had passed through the FCC and WiFi Alliance. This means the Palm smartphone by the Palm Ventures Group had showed up in 2018. So far not much has been revealed about the device but is expected to be an Android 8.1 Oreo smartphone with Wi FI 2.4 GHZ with quad-band LTE support.

There might be disappointed users due to the slow 2.4 GHZ as the device is not going to support a faster 5 GHZ which is common in most of the devices. The device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo but an upgrade to Android Pie 9.0 will give it a feel of the webOS with gesture support. For now, not much has been unveiled about the device and the photos with other information has been put away from public record.

Moreover, so far no confirmation has been given if the smartphone is really coming or not. But if it is TCL, it is surely going to try to revamp the Palm brand in the way it tried to bring out the BlackBerry. More reports say that Verizon might be home to smartphone by the end of 2018. On the other hand PVG100 has gone through FCC and the WI FI Alliance so the chances are high that the Palm phone might launch by the end of 2018.
