Asus launches promising gaming monitors

Taiwan based tech giant Asus has announced three of its Strix XG-branded gaming monitors. All the new gaming monitors have large VA panels with Display HDR certification and FreeSync2 support. The new XG438Q is a big 43 inch 4K monitor with Display HDR 600 and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The monitors have two ten watt stereo speakers built in each and are TVs that is more focused for gaming than for a traditional PC.

If you are thinking of sitting in front of it and a mouse and keyboard, then you might need a bigger desk. On the other hand the XG49VQ has a 49 inch ultra-ultra-wide 32:9 3840 X 1080 panel. When calculated, it is similar to sticking two regular 27 inch 1080p monitors side by side . However, this indicates that the pixel density might not be so great especially when other giants like Samsung, Philips and Dell have introduced 1440p equivalents in recent times.

At the same time Asus indeed goes up to 144Hz and is well suited for the fast paced games that are best for an extremely wide field of view. It also has a support for the Display HDR 400. Finally the third monitor is the XG32VQ which can be called as a conventional 144Hz 16:9 1440p model which has a support for DisplayHDR 400. Considering it at 315 inches it is quite a bit larger than most of the monitors of its resolution. Which also means that the pixel density here can be compromised. At the same time, it can be a good option if the GPU cannot drive 4K and you will instead go for a more immersive picture.

The model also covers 94percent of the DCI-P3 gamut while the others manage 90 percent. Asus has said that the XG49VQ and the XG32VQ will be available by the end of January, 2019 while the XG438Q will be launched in Spring 2019. The pricing of the products are yet to be announced.
