Lexar launches world’s first 1TB SDXC memory card

Changing a memory card will soon become a thing of the past. When you shoot plenty of high definition content it calls for a change of SD cards and this can surely become tiring. Lexar has now launched a new mammoth SD card that can make it easier for people who have a large appetite of high definition content. The Professional 633x SDXC UHS-I by Lexar is a memory card that has the capacity to store 1 terabyte of pictures and video and was showed off at the CES 2019 at Las Vegas.

One terabyte memory is enough to store about 500 hours of video. The new SD card by Lexar has been designed for the midrange DSLRs, 3D cameras or HD camcorders and allows to capture 1080 full HD , 3D and 4K video with a transfer speed of 95 MB per second. Joey Lopez, the Lexar senior marketing manager in a statement said, “As consumers continue to demand greater storage for their cameras, the combination of high-speed performance with a 1TB option now offers a solution for content creators who shoot large volumes of high-resolution images and 4K video”.

However, the convenience does come at a cost which means that the little card with a big storage has been priced at $500. It was SanDisk that had first announced the 1TB SDXC card in 2016, but that memory card could not materialize and is yet to hit the market. The Lexar new 1TB memory card is available for purchase from January 9, 2019. Lopez had also shared that Lexar had announced the 1GB SD card about 15 years back and new 1TB card has been announced with the same convenient form factor.

With the latest announcement, Lexar is back to form and is pushing forward in to the future of memory card storage. Some of the e-commerce outlets have listed the memory card for $400.
