Apple apologizes for constant failures with MacBook keyboards

Once again Apple has acknowledged some failures in MAcBok Butterfly keyboards and apologized. The apology was also included in a Wall Street Journal report by a popular tech journalist Joanna Stern who pointed out that, like some others she had encountered a keyboard failure in her 2018 MacBookAir.

Stern had published a statement that was sent to her by a spokesperson from Apple. The statement said, “We are aware that a small number of users are having issues with their third-generation butterfly keyboard and for that we are sorry. The vast majority of Mac notebook customers are having a positive experience with the new keyboard.”

Stern also said that the spokesperson has advised the users to contact Apple Customer support if they had a problem with the keyboards. MacBooks are very common among the writers and journalists so this has not helped the situation of Apple that people with platforms to write about their tech have experienced the problem. Even otherwise the keyboards are controversial even they are not accounting to failures.

Apple has maintained that there is a silent majority, who like the experience of typing on keyboards with the help of the butterfly design that was introduced a few years back. There are also a group of people who are very vocal and feel the keyboards are unpleasant to type on. The butterfly design was introduced by Apple in the MacBook before it was brought on the MacBook Pro in 2016 and the MacBook Air in 2018. The original version of the keyboard had faced a high level of failure rate and Apple revised it with a few changes with a second generation butterfly keyboard design in 2017 MacBook Pro. The problems on the keyboard was caused due to the dust that made its way underneath the keys and interfering with the butterfly mechanism. Later Apple added a membrane to the third generation design.
