Amazon working on improving Echo speakers

E-commerce and tech giant Amazon is in no mood to stop despite the introduction of new models in 2018. When you think of high fidelity, Amazon’s Echo is probably not the first thing that comes to mind. The company now intends to change that by bringing a higher quality version of the Echo so that it can better compete with the other devices like the Sonos.

There are reports that the Lav126 research division of Amazon has produced prototypes which are larger than the current Echo that will be packing at least four tweeters. A new Echo of better quality surely sounds good for the music lovers, especially when the e-commerce giant is all set to launch a high-fidelity version of the Music Unlimited service for $15 per month. This will also give the company an opportunity to compete against Google’s Home Max, which is a speaker with better fidelity than anything that Amazon has to offer.

Meanwhile, Amazon is comfortably a leader in terms of the smart speaker market, but it is steadily dropping as Google’s share slowly goes up. The e-commerce giant recently released the Echo Sub for a better bass along with the Echo Plus that delivers a better sound than the Echo. But it still does not have a product that can compete with the Alexa enabled Sonos Speakers or the Home Max in terms of sound.

There are supportive reports that have stated that Amazon has increased the speed of work on a home robot code named Vesta, that was first seen in 2018. The company is reportedly been assigning engineers from other projects to work on the project. This is a sign that it is surely serious about commercializing the product. Amazon insiders have revealed that it could be a kind of mobile Alexa that follows the user like a dog, while delivering music or movies to any part of the house.
