Google to add eye detection to face unlock feature on Pixel 4

Privacy issue is a growing concern among the gadget and software users. The recent tech giant which has faced a wrath of the users is Google due to its recently launched Pixel 4 smartphone. The search engine has faced criticism for allowing the users to unlock the device with their eyes closed in the face lock feature. After a number of complaints, Google has decided to update its Pixel 4 phones that will prevent the users to unlock the device with a sleeping face/closed eyes.

A number of users took their social networking accounts to report about the concern and expressed their concerns over the privacy issue. The Pixel 4 smartphones are the first from Google to have the face unlock feature and are yet to hit the shelves. The face unlock feature has been used in place of the finger print sensors that were included in the earlier versions. The feature has been added to confirm payments and can also be used to sign-in to apps.

It has been seen on other devices with face lock feature that it requires the user to look at the phones with their eyes open. But with Pixel 4, it does not require the user to look in to the device with open eyes but can also be opened with the eyes closed. This was noticed just a few days after the launch of the Pixel 4. Google then said that the feature works that way.

With constant criticism, Google has now assured that it will release an update for a more secure unlocking procedure. The search engine said that the update will be out in the upcoming months. In the meantime, Google has said that, if the users are concerned about the privacy then they can activate the security feature that requires a pin, pattern or a password. Google had earlier included the security feature with closed eyes to improve the speed of the device.
