Xiaomi launches world’s first 108 Megapixel camera smartphone

Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is known for making some of the finest smartphones at the most reasonable rates. The company has unveiled the world’s first mainstream commercial handset that will feature a 108 megapixel camera. However, the 108 megapixel sensor has been developed by Samsung. The south Korean giant is yet to feature the huge 108 megapixel sensor on its own smartphones. Xiaomi has said that the camera will deliver pictures that are extremely sharp and are also rich in detail.

But some of the early tests have indicated that the image that are clicked by the 108 megapixel camera have more distortions when compared to the smartphones that have lower resolution. The Mi CC9 Pro Premium has been launched for the Chinese market and the base model has been priced at 2,799 yuan which comes to about $400. Xiaomi has also said that it will use the same tech in its Mi Note 10 which is all set to be launched on November 6, 2019 and is expected to have a good sales.

Xiaomi stands in the fourth position as the best selling smartphone vendor in the world and has a market share of about 9.1percent. The company is noticing a rapid sales across the globe and is now also planning to expand its market in Japan by 2020. So far the 100MP + sensors have been seen in digital cameras and can be pretty expensive. But when plenty of resolution is fit in to a smaller smartphone then there is a risk of increasing cross-talk, where the electrical activity of one pixel spills to the next as they are so closely packed together.

On the other hand the Isocell Plus Sensor by Samsung solves the problem to a certain extent as it is larger in size compared to most of the smartphone sensors. The users of the device should also keep in mind that the shots that are taken by the 108MP consume more storage.
