Plague Inc. game banned in China over illegal content

Plague Inc. is a strategy game that has been developed by Ndemic Creations. The game allows the players to spread a virus across the globe. The makers of the game have said that the game has been banned in China, which is currently dealing with the deadly coronavirus. It can no longer be found in the Chinese app store and has been pulled back due to its illegal content. The creators have assured that it is working hard to reverse the ban.

Ndemi creations in a statement said that they have been informed that the Plague Inc. has content that is illegal in China as per the Cyberspace Administration of China and has also been removed from the China App Store. The statement added that the situation is not under their control at all and that they are not sure if the removal of the game is due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak that the country is facing.

On the other hand it has to be noticed that the educational importance of the game has been a number of times recognized by some of the organizations like the CDC also known as the Centre For Disease Control and Prevention. The creators have also assured that they are also looking forward with some of the major global health organizations to see how they can best support with their efforts to control the ongoing epidemic of coronavirus. Reports say that the ban has been a blow to the Chinese players and the game actually encourages the players to think and learn more about some of the serious public health issues.

Plague Inc. was launched about eight years back in 2012 and since then it has been a major hit among the gamers. It has about 130 million players across the globe and its popularity increased in China amidst the coronavirus epidemic in the country since January, 2020. Some of the players also expressed that they downloaded the game as a way to deal with the fears around the virus.
