Facebook to allow users create 3D pictures without portrait mode camera

Social networking giant Facebook is working towards making the user’s experience even more better and exciting. What if you find a picture on your Facebook feed that looks live and popping out like something that you see in a 3D film? The social network is working on something that are known as the 3D photos that all the users will be able to use. The concept was first launched in 2018 and allowed people to give their pictures a 3D like appearance at the background. But for that the source image has to be shot with the help of portrait mode.

Facebook started supporting 3D photos on the timeline at the time when dual-lens smartphone cameras had become popular at a time when dual-lens smartphone cameras had become a popular feature and was known as the portrait mode. Under this feature it captures the focused object with its smallest details and blurs away the background, making it look beautiful and attractive. The platform of Facebook could then use the extra data in the images in which the background seems to be moving.

The social network in a blog post has said that the portrait mode pictures are no longer essential and that the feature on Facebook would turn the old 2D pictures in to 3D ones with the help of artificial intelligence. The blog post has stressed that it does not matter how old the picture is and should be compatible with the newly upgrade 3D photos. The feature will be able to read the 3D structure of any image that could be taken from an Android or an iOS device or with a single camera. It could also be a picture that has been recently uploaded to the phone or the laptop.

The blog post by the social network has mentioned in detail about how the feature works and has also offered a few examples for the users to see the results.
