Google cancels Cloud Next event due to coronavirus

Cloud Next is an event that is hosted by Google and brings together the employees, partners and the overall community under one roof for a multi-day event that offers breakout sessions, key notes and interactive learning opportunities with the Google Teams. It marks as one of the largest annual events but this year the event has been cancelled and rescheduled due to the ongoing coronavirus scare. The event was expected to bring together 30,000 attendees.

The cancellation does not come as a surprise as other major events that were expected to be hosted by other giants have also been called off. Even Facebook has cancelled its F8 developer conference just a few days back. Cloud Next was expected to be held from April 6, to April 8, 2020. Instead of the physical event, the company will now be hosting an online event under the moniker, Google Cloud Next ’20: Digital Connect. This means that the attendees of the online event will still be able to interact with the experts and will also be able to have breakout sessions and keynotes.

Google in its announcement said that since it has an expertise in innovation, it is looking forward to bring an inspiring and immersive event for the enthusiasts without the risk of travel. The best part is that the virtual event will be free and will be available in an email to the attendees. The search engine assured that it will be refunding all the tickets for this year’s conference and will also be cancelling the hotel reservations that were made with the help of the conference reservation system.

After the delay of the Cloud Next event, it has to be seen what decision Google takes with its I/O event which is expected to be held from May 12, 2020 to May 14, 2020 in Mountain View. Even the Build conference is expected to be held in Seattle on May 19, 2020.
