Tech giants are coming together to make efforts to deal with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Coronavirus has so far affected a number of countries and some of the most critical patients of COVID-19 need the ventilator as they face breathing difficulties. Tesla had in a recent video revealed that it is working on a ventilator that has been designed with the help of car parts. There are other companies as well who are working on building ventilators but Tesla is a company which has decided not to affect the existing parts supply chain.

On the other hand the companies like Ford and General Motors (GM) are helping the device companies to increase the production of some of their existing products,. The design plugs by Tesla that goes into the oxygen supply and mixes the O2 with the oxygen in the air with the help of the chamber that comes from one of the air suspension systems that is adjustable. Then it goes through custom valve body, flow rate sensor and the pressure sensor and finally the filter before it enters the lungs of the patients.

The model that was built by Tesla and was showed off in a video, had vehicle controllers infotainment system and touch screen from the Tesla Model 3. It also has a backup battery along with a compressor which can be used with the help of a oxygen tank that is portable in case there is a power failure or the patient has to be transported. The idea surely seems promising but it seems like a distant goal and the auto giant has not mentioned about any particular timeline as to when the production ready version of the ventilator will be ready. It has also to be approved by the FDA.

Despite the lack of any announcements, Elon Musk the CEO of Tesla had earlier said that there are possibilities that it could manufacture ventilators in its solar panel factory, that lies idle in Buffalo. Its Model 3 was manufactured at its facilities at Fremont in California and Shanghai in China.
