Apple introduces new updates and features to its coronavirus app

Cupertino based giant Apple had in March, 2020 launched an application which had information about the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The application also had information on how to stay safe and ways to prevent the virus. The COVID-19 app for iOS has received an update to version 2.0 and has new features including to a few more tips to stay healthy. The latest updates to the app allows the users to select a state where they are residing so that they can be conveniently approach the authorities in case of any assistance from the health department.

Apple has said that it is also adding more information and tips on not just keeping them healthy physically but will also help to maintain their mental health as they remain inside the house during the coronavirus outbreak. While the news of fresh features for the app comes as a good news, the US Senators have question Apple CEO Tim Cook regarding details on the privacy policy of the application.

Other reports have stated that the application does not send any data back to Apple or any other third parties, that perform as Apple. The application is available on App Store for the users in the U.S. and can be used by people who are 18 years or older. Apple has been taking a number of measures to deal with the ongoing pandemic. Apart from the app, it has also allowed its employees to work from home and have also given out allowances to the employees who have been infected of the virus or have to attend a family member who is infected of the virus.

The coronavirus pandemic has affected the US in recent times and the number of infected patients is increasing everyday. A number of deaths have also been reported and the mortuaries are overwhelmed as there isn’t enough space to store them. The coronavirus has its epicenter in the Wuhan city in the Hubei province in China and started off in December 2019.
