Mozilla prepares to axe two of its useful products

Free software community Mozilla is all set to shut down two of its very useful products. Is was in the month of August, 2020 when the Mozilla fans were disappointed as they came to know that a restructuring in the company would result in some huge cuts and would also threaten some of the current products like the Firefox. Now it seems like things are moving around in that direction where Mozilla is focusing on making some more revenue. The Firefox Send and the Notes are all set to be taken back or shut down completely.

However, there is a catch as from a bird’s eye point of view, it can be noticed that the Send by Mozilla is not worth bringing back as it was already put on hold earlier in 2020 due to some issues. The users were not able to send or upload the encrypted files in an anonymous way. Moreover, the service was also being used to conduct phishing attacks and distribute malware. This particular product is already offline which means that it will not make much of a difference. On the other hand the product had a reputation of being one of the quick ways to send and receive files securely.

Even the Notes will be shut down. The users of this service can on Android and desktop, take notes on the web pages and can also sync them between the devices. The best part is that all this could be done while keeping the contents secured and encrypted. Notes will be taken back in the month of November, 2020. The users who have the extension installed will get ample time to export their content.

This is surely a sad day as the services will be shut down especially when these could have been very useful if they were brought in the right way. Mozilla is now focusing on some of the new projects like the new VPN.
