The newly launched PlayStation 5 console has been popular among the gamers and has been on high demand since it has been launched in the month of November, 2020. Amidst the high demand, many resellers have been trying to take advantage of the situation by listing the empty boxes for auction. Such attempts were being made either in an effort to scam the purchasers or could be providers of the parents who are looking to prank their children. E-commerce giant eBay said that the listing for the empty boxes of the items don’t comply with the No Items Listing Policy and that they will be removed.

E-Bay added that the sellers are not allowed to misrepresent what they are listing for sale on the auction site. So far a number of auctions have been hosted for empty PS5 boxes at more than $1000. On the other hand e-Bay has claimed that such listings were never paid for. Moreover, at last one of the winning bidder has claimed that he has been scammed and that was mentioned on the seller’s feedback. The company is facing a number of such issues in recent times and it has assured that they have been taking actions to remove fraudulent listings from the marketplace.

The statement from the company has warned the customers that they need to be careful in terms of items that are high-priced or are in-demand items as there are high chances that they could be scammed. E-Bay has also said that the buyers who receive an item that is not as described are entitled for a refund through Money Back Guarantee by eBay.

The company has also assured that it is committed to provide a safe and secure online shopping experience for millions of people from across the globe. E-Bay has also assured that they constantly monitor listings on the site and have systems that screen and verify the new members.
