HP announces acquisition of HyperX

American tech giant HP has made an announcement that it is all set to acquire HyperX, which is a peripheral company. HyperX is mainly known for its keyboards, headsets and other peripherals and the deal is going to be worth $425 million. HP has said that it is acquiring HyperX which is the gaming division of the company Kingston Technology Company, which means that HP is not acquiring the entire company but just the gaming division. The official announcement was made on February 24, 2021.

On the other hand Kingston will be continuing to make DRAM, SSD and flash peripherals. HP has expressed that its latest acquisition will help improve its gaming profile. Some of the other peripheral companies in the market include Logitech, Razer and Corsair and HyperX has been trying hard to catch up with these brands in the market. Even HP offered a line-up of its Oman-branded headsets, mice, monitors and other hardware.

Enrique Lores the president and chief executive at HP in a statement said that they see plenty of opportunities as the peripheral market is witnessing a phenomenal growth. Lores added that the addition of HyperX will make their profile even stronger as they are going to have fresh source of innovation and a good scope for growth of business.

Now people who already use the HyperX devices might have a doubt about the usage. Reports say that the companion app known as Ngenuity will continue to function as normal and will not be merged in to the Omen Control Centre that also supports the hardware of HP. HyperX started off in 2002 with a line-up of high performance memory. Now the company features a number of solid-state drives, USB flash drives, headsets, mouse pads, memory modules and more. The products from the company have been the choice of the top-rated gamers as well as tech enthusiasts.
