Apple Maps will also inform people about COVID-19 Vaccination centres in the US

The coronavirus vaccine started to roll out for administration since December, 2021. Initially the vaccine was only available for healthcare workers and senior citizens, but now slowly the vaccine is also being rolled out for general public across the US. Apple is making efforts to help people find nearby COVID-19 vaccination sites. From March 16, 2021 people in the United States will be able to find the nearby COVID-19 vaccination sites with the help of Apple Maps.

The users can just tap on the search bar and then tap on the COVID-19 Vaccines icon to find the centre under the Find Nearby menu. Not many might realize, it is the same interface that had helped to find nearby restaurants and gas stations. There is another option where the users can just ask Siri a question that says, “Where can I get a COVID-19 vaccination?” Apple is making use the database from the Boston Children’s Hospital VaccineFinder.

Every result of the location will include the address, phone number and the hours of its operation of the centre. It will also link to the site’s website. Apple has said that there will be 20,000 listings at the launch and more are expected to be added in the upcoming weeks. The company has also said that it will be allowing labs, businesses, healthcare providers to submit information on the vaccination and testing locations to the Apple Business Register. After the information is approved, the details will be uploaded and be available for the users of Maps.

People who are living in the United States can also make use of Facebook and Google to find such information. But still, the new feature by Apple Maps is going to be an added benefit and option for the people who are looking forward to get themselves vaccinated. Vaccination drives across the globe are administering people with the COVID-19 vaccines.
