Samsung working on a double foldable phone

South Korean giant Samsung has always been ambitious in terms of the devices that it has to launch. The company is planning to come up with a double folding phone. A report from a leading daily has mentioned that the device will fold in three segments with the help of two hinges and the official announcement could come as soon as by the end of 2021. The upcoming smartphone will become the third handset to enter the foldable line-up of Samsung and would join the Galaxy Z Fold and the Z Flip.

The report has also mentioned that the design of the phone is currently being finalized and there are possibilities that the screen could have a 16:9 or 18:9 aspect ratio. The Z Fold has a 25:9 ratio if the reports are true then it would be easier with the upcoming smartphone. Although this is not the first phone to be launched with multiple folds. Even the Xiaomi’s folding phone prototype had folded at two points. But for the upcoming Galaxy foldable, it has taken inspiration from the Galaxy Fold.

Even Huawei’s Mate X2 foldable smartphone also has a similar design like that of Samsung. The company is launching its new foldable phone so the users get more options from the foldable line-up. Samsung had earlier said that it could skip the launch of a Note phone this year but it did not specify the reason. There were even reports about streamlining the phone offerings and a global shortage of chips. This will also be a test if the users are ready for a new Fold device. This could also be a case where Samsung is trying its best to convince people that a foldable phone also works equally well like other smartphones.

Foldable phones are finding it tough to make a position like other smartphones in the market but the chip shortage is another issue that it has to address.
