Apple planning a foldable iPhone by 2023

This is not the first time when reports about a foldable phone from Apple have surfaced. But this time the reports are more credible. Ming-Chi Kuo, a very reliable analyst has said that the iPhone giant is planning to launch an iPhone that will be an 8 inch foldable one by 2023. Apart from that an industry survey has predicted that the company is planning to sell nearly 15 to 20 million handsets of the foldable phone in 2023.

Kuo had said that the probability of a foldable iPhone was out in the month of March, 2021 but this time the news is more clear as more details have been mentioned in terms of the suppliers. It has also been predicted that the QHD + flexible OLED will be supplied by Samsung Display. On the other hand the DDI display controller will be supplied by Samsung Foundry. It has also been predicted that the iPhone maker will be making use of the silver nanowire touch tech which is supplied by TPK. It has a number of more advantages over the Y-Octa technology of Samsung.

Despite the above report and prediction, it continues to be speculative and nothing can be confirmed at this point. No official announcements or hints have been made which means that it is too early for the foldable phone fans to begin saving for a foldable iPhone, which could surely be fancy. While iPhone is walking in a slow pace in terms of a foldable phone, companies like Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and Honor are expected to launch foldable phones in late 2021 or by early 2022.

It cannot be ignored that the component shortage continues due to the pandemic situation and the shipments could only increase to 17 million by 2022 if the situation improves. If things go as planned, the foldable phone by Apple could be one fancy gadget that would be on everyone’s wish list.
