Gadget Herald: Japanese electronics manufacturer Panasonic announced the launch of the Toughpad FZ-A1 tablet PC in the US on November 7, 2011. The company has said that the new device is the tablet version of their Toughbook laptops that runs on Android 2.3 Honeycomb.
The new Toughpad will be launched by the spring of 2012 and would be priced at €1,020 for the Wi-Fi only model. The MD at Panasonic, Hiroaki Sakamoto, said that the people from the business and the industry can take the benefit of the ease and portability of the tablet computing.
The new Toughpad FZ –A1 will have a 10.1-inch screen and will come packed with a processor of 1.2 GHz with 1GB RAM and 16 GB memory. The company has also assured that they would make a 7-inch version of the Toughpad during the second half of 2012.
The tablet has been designed specially for mobile workers in sectors like aviation, construction and public safety. The new Toughpad has been made keeping in mind the ruggedness of the various fields. The tablet will also have a drop rating of 120 cm and can also bear extreme temperatures. Some of the other features of the tablet include anti-glaring on screen and a 10 hour replaceable battery. It also has a 5 megapixel rear camera and also a dedicated security processor.
