Kobo launches two new e-readers Sage and Libra 2

Canadian based eBooks manufacturer, Kobo has announced the launch of new e-readers – Kobo Sage priced at $260 and the Libra 2 priced at $180, that would be an upgrade for its mid-range e-reader Libra. Both the e-readers have the popular asymmetrical design that was first popularized by the Oasis e-reader by Amazon and also has the E ink Carta 1200 screens along with the ComfortLight Pro feature of Kobo. It is a feature that adjusts the brightness of the screen and color as per the time of the day.

The new Kobo Sage and Libra 2 also have Bluetooth support for wireless headphones but they can only play Kobo’s own audiobooks. The Sage is the bigger device and also works as an e-note device. The e-reader is compatible with the Kobo Stylus which is sold separately for $40. It allows the users to make hand-written notes on PDFs and ebooks that can also be converted in to plain text. The Sage has an 8 inch E Ink display which makers it smaller than the dedicated e-note slate which is its 10.3 inch Elipsa. The new e-Book Sage is also cheaper as the Elipsa has the price tag of $399.

The Kobo Sage is also compatible with its new PowerCover that comes with a price tag of $80. It helps to automatically wake and sleep the device when it is opened or closed. It also has a dedicated place to keep the stylus along with an integrated battery that extends the battery life of Sage. The new e-Reader has a 32 GB of non-expandable storage along with a quad-core 1.8 Ghz processor.

On the other hand the Libra 2 has a 7 inch display and is faster than its predecessor. Some of its features include 32 GB of expandable storage, 1 GHZ processor and USB-C. But it does not support the new PowerCover. Both the devices are available to pre-order and would be shipped from October 19, 2021.
