Global chip shortage is slowly gripping Apple

The global chip shortage has been a concern with the gadget manufacturers across the globe. A number of companies have been facing a crisis in terms of manufacturing their respective devices triggered by the shortage. It has affected everything from PlayStation 5 consoles to the graphic cards, the market is facing the grunt. For a long time, it seemed as if Apple was not affected by the shortage, but now it looks like the day has finally come when the iPhone maker is also facing the crisis.

Some of the latest reports have said that majority of the new products by Apple will not be shipping until November or December, 2021. This also includes the latest iPhone 13, the iPad Mini, Apple Watch Series 7, MacBook Pro and the 9th generation iPad. What is more concerning is the fact that the delays are also going to affect some of the older products like the MacBook Air and the new iMac. Although delays is nothing new when we talk about Apple products. The problem the company is facing right now is the scale.

For instance, the iPhone 13 has been launched for nearly a month and to find every version of the device is tough to find. The Apple’s site has mentioned about the earliest delivery window which is November 19-29. For now at least in New York City, which has 12 outlets, none of the versions are available. Earlier in October, 2021, the company had brought down its production targets to ten million units.

On the other hand the iPad Mini has a similar delivery window but just a few versions of the device are available for pick up at just one or two of the Apple Stores in the entire NYC. But it is not just the device, but its newly launched $19 polishing cloth has also been delayed by 10 to 12 weeks. This is expected to be the most profitable quarter for Apple and such delays can cost the company a lot.
