Google Maps is a popular web mapping platform that was launched in 2005 and ever since then, the company has been adding fresh upgrades to improve its experience. One of the common tools that is used on the platform is to get from Point A to Point B. Not many are aware that there are also some hidden features of Google Maps which are incredibly useful. These functions are not used commonly, but could be very useful if the purpose of it is properly understood.

1. Tracking your friends – While this feature might seem more like a privacy infringement, but it is useful when you are going out with your friends and want to meet up, but are not able to locate their exact location. The friend has to tap on Profile Picture on Google maps and select Location Sharing. It will pen the contacts and they can select with whom they want to share.

2. Create your own map – While Maps provides you the map to get from Point A to Point B, creating your own Map helps to get the place you want to reach. It can be done on the PC by tapping on the menu and then tap on Your Places. Go to Maps and then tap on Create a Map at the bottom. If you don’t want to get stuck, you can place markers on the places you want to visit.

3. Helps you not to miss the last train – If you are not sure about the time of the last train home on public transport, then you just have to enter the two locations you are travelling between and switch to public transport. You will be thrown different options as per your convenience.

4. Offline Maps – If you are traveling long distance and do not want to burn your mobile data, you could tap on the profile picture to find Offline Maps. You could find Maps that are already downloaded or ‘Select your own map’.
