Vivo launches its flagship X80 Pro

Chinese smartphone giant Vivo has announced its latest flagship smartphone X80 Pro. One of the most prominent features of the new smartphone is its larger in-display fingerprint sensor. The best part is that the active area is much bigger than the small sensors that are found in majority of the Android phones in recent times. The above feature indicated that the smartphone user would able to unlock the phone faster and will not have to look  on the screen to align the thumb.

Apart from being physically larger, the scanner has a number of other advantages as well. Every finger tip can be registered with just a single press on the screen. The users will not have to lift and press it a number of times which is typically the process with conventional phones with finger-print sensors. Another good thing is that the fingerprint sensor on the X80 Pro works faster even if the finger is wet. One of the advantages to have a larger fingerprint area, is the user can register two simultaneous fingerprints to provide an extra-layer of authentication.

The technology that has been used here is  the 3D Ultrasonic Large Fingerprint Sensor technology from Qualcomm and is also known as the 3D Sonic Max. The X80 Pro has become the first smartphone to have the technology deployed in mainstream. Vivo is also known for its camera quality  and the X80 Pro comes with a promising one.

The X80 Pro has a 50 megapixel main sensor with a 12 megapixel 2x telephoto, 48 megapixel ultrawide and finally an 8 megapixel 5x periscope telephoto. All this has been packed in a large camera bump with a promise to deliver the best quality pictures and videos. The X80 Pro boasts a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor with 256 GB storage and 12 GB of RAM. It also has a 6.78 inch 1440 p curved OLED panel and a 4,700mAh battery. The pricing of the device is yet to be revealed.
