US-based technology company Apple has been in the news of late due to its skirmishes with Samsung over patents related to its iPhone smartphone. However, Apple has a wide range of products that it can market and turn to when things get tough in the hardware realm. One such product is iTunes, which is used by most Apple aficionados. According to media reports, iTunes could even be launching a new streaming service, which would allow users to effortlessly buy content online.
Two major music labels Warner Music and Universal Music Group are allegedly in talks with Apple to launch a streaming service for people in the US. Later on, other countries like Australia, France, UK, Japan and Germany will also be provided with the ability to stream music.
The music companies could possibly see an increase in sales due to in-stream music purchases, but they are not content about the fact that Apple only wants to pay streaming fees that are around half of what other providers such as Pandora are paying.
However, even though streaming content on iTunes has been the talk of the town for years, the tech company is not commenting on the issue. Other streaming services like Spotify and Pandora have seen significant success after going down the path of streaming music.
