Samsung launches Galaxy Mega phablet in US market

On August 20, 2013, South Korean giant Samsung Electronics launched its newest phablet, the Galaxy Mega, in the US market. The new Galaxy Mega is very similar to the other, very popular Samsung device – the Galaxy S4.

Nick DiCarlo, VP of product planning and marketing at Samsung, in a statement said, “The Galaxy Mega combines exceptional features from the Samsung Galaxy smartphone family with a 6.3-inch screen, making it an optimal device for movies, books, music and games”. The Galaxy S4 and the new Galaxy Mega have similar features.

Users of the new device can customize the lock screen and easily access settings from the drop-down notification bar. Other features of the device include Air View, which enables users to preview their emails and pictures by hovering a finger an inch above the screen. An additional feature of the Samsung Mega phablet is the WatchON app which allows users to control a television via their device.

The Galaxy Mega has an 8-megapixel camera, with various shooting modes like Panorama and Sound and Shot. The device runs on an Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS which is powered by a 1.7-GHz dual-core processor with 1.5 GB of RAM, which allows users to store additional music, photos and videos.
