Popular toy retailing giant Toys R Us is getting ready to launch its Tabeo e2 Android tablet for children. The retailer has started taking pre-orders on the tablet, which costs just $150 for the US market. For the time being, the company is just taking pre-orders and the device will begin shipping in October 2013. The Tabeo e2 is a new 8-inch tablet which is designed specifically for children.
The device will be available exclusively at Toys R Us stores and online at Tabeo’s website in October 2013. The Tabeo will be available in three colors – blue, pink and silver. The device is powered by a dual-core 1.0GHz processor with a quad-core GPU, 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of in-built storage, microSD card slot with support for up to 64GB of additional storage, micro USB port, mini HDMI output, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, dual-facing camera and a couple of other odds and ends.
The Tabeo e2 runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and will come with a protective case which has been custom designed to shield against drops. As the device is for children, it also comes with parental controls which can block applications and set time and date limits for specific applications.
