South Korean giant Samsung Electronics released the third generation of its Galaxy Note series phone in Taiwan on September 24, 2013. The company’s latest device has been launched in order stay ahead of new competition on the ever-growing phablet market.
The phablet was created in 2011 – when Samsung released its first Note phone – and since then, the unique device became a hit among consumers who want to carry one device, instead of a separate tablet and phone. The sales of the company’s Note reached almost 40 million units across the globe in the past two years. The total number includes 10 million units of the first Note and 30 million units of Samsung’s second-generation model.
Andy Tu, the general manager of Samsung Taiwan’s mobile communication said that, in Taiwan, the company has sold about 800,000 Note series phones until now and the figure is expected to surpass the 1-million mark by the end of 2013. Tu said, “We are confident of reaching this target on the back of positive customer feedback for our Note 2 device.”
Tu went on to say that the Note 2 stayed the third-best-selling phone in Taiwan in August 2013 and this information was based on market research data. The 32-gigabyte Note 3 will be priced at NT$23,900 and will be available from October 2013 in the domestic market.
