Apple confirms battery problems of iPhone 5S, offers replacement

US-based tech giant Apple has confirmed that a certain number of iPhone 5S devices are facing battery issues. The new iPhone 5S was launched by the company just one month ago, in September 2013.

A spokesperson from Apple said, “We recently discovered a manufacturing issue affecting a very limited number of iPhone 5s devices that could cause the battery to take longer to charge or result in reduced battery life”. It was also stated that users who are facing such issues with the battery will be provided with new phones as a replacement.

The spokeswoman went on to say that they are reaching out to customers who have affected phones and will offer them a replacement. Recent reports have claimed that several thousand handsets – out of the millions sold until now – are affected by this issue.

The California-based company said that it managed to sell nine million units of 5S and 5C models in just three days after the launch. However, it has not been revealed how many of each device has been sold. So far, Apple has been the dominator when it comes to the smartphone and tablet segment, however, it has been facing some tough competition from other companies in recent times.
