Motorola launches Moto G in US early

Mobile phone manufacturing giant Motorola has  launched its Moto G smartphone in the US market on November 26, 2013. The new handset by Motorola is available only in the GSM version and can be unlocked on Motorola.com sans a contract for $179.

As the company originally planned to launch the latest handset in the US by January 2014, the recent launch did come as a surprise to many. Dennis Woodside, the CEO of Motorola said that the early demand for the company’s Moto G has been strong in various markets.

The CEO went on to say that the company was able to speed up the production faster than expected and it was also able to set up the official website faster, which resulted in the early release of the new phone. With the early launch, the company can take advantage of the upcoming holiday shopping season. However, plans of the company for the first quarter of 2014 still remain the same.

The carrier and retail partners of Motorola will launch the Moto G in January 2014 and will take advantage of the strong prepaid market at the beginning of 2014. Woodside said that they are always gearing up for the big first quarter and is confident that they will be successful in the current quarter as well.
