Google tests diabetes tracking smart contact lens

Search engine giant Google said that it is testing a new method for monitoring diabetics to monitor their blood sugar levels. The new method is by wearing contact lenses which are equipped with tiny chips and an antenna.

Google mentioned that it is a prototype of the smart contact lenses which can generate a reading of the tear glucose levels every second. This can remove the need for the people to prick their fingers and test drops of blood through out the day. The search engine in a blog post said, “We’re in discussions with the FDA, but there’s still a lot more work to do to turn this technology into a system that people can use”.

Google also revealed that it is planning to find partners who are experts in bringing such products like these to the market. The search engine these days is finding out new technologies outside its core business. This includes the self driving cars, and balloons which beam in to the wireless internet to the remote regions of the world.

Google has also become focused on health related issues and is launching a separate company in the month of September which will be devoted to tackling the diseases related to aging.
