South Korean giant Samsung has introduced new features to its Gear Fit device. Some users of the device had complaints earlier about poor screen orientation and the good news is that the company had listened to the majority of complaints and released a firmware software update for the device.
The horizontal display has been changed and Gear Fit now features the vertical one. The portrait screen looks much better, but it is a bit awkward to read when it is tied to user’s wrist. Another feature which has been added is the new mode which will track sleep data similarly to other fitness bands – Jawbone Up and the MisFit Shine.
Another feature of Gear Fit is its ability to customize the Fit through Manager app, which means that layout of the icons can be swapped and users can change the home screen and add their own photo to the Gear Fit background. The device also has new watch faces including some of the cool ones which take better advantage of the vertical display of the device.
It also comes with extra coaching options. Users can find new ways to control coaching mode while running by setting the heart rate coaching awareness to auto mode or setting the maximum heart rate to coach around.
