Taiwan’s Asus is all set to launch its RT-AC87 Dual Band Wireless AC2400 Gigabyte Router. This will be the first device in the market which will have the ability to hit the top 802.11 ac WI FI speed of 1.73 Gbps on 5 Ghz frequency band, while supporting top 802.11n speeds on the 2.4ghz bands.
So as to achieve the new level of WI Fi performance, the new router makes use of Quantenna’s QSR1000 4 X 4 multi user MultiI Input Multiple Output chipset. The new device comes with four antennas and features Universal Beamforming to increase its range at home or office. It will also improve the signal strength and performance for the older devices.
To get the speed of 1.73 Gbps the client will have to use the same chipset and the router supports all the existing wi fi clients in the market. One of the unique features of the device is that it has an AiProtection which employs Trend Micro protection technology to monitor home network in real time.
The new RT AC 87 has the same feature and includes an easy-to-use Web interface and AiCloud 2.0 which can turn the router in to a personal cloud server. The new Asus RT AC 87 router is available in North America and has a price tag of $270.
