US based software giant Microsoft has fulfilled a promise on June 24, 2015 and has released versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs for smartphones that run on Android by Google. The apps have been launched on Google’s online Play Store.
The new apps have been launched to materialize the strategy of Microsoft to make the application accessible from a variety of devices as services in the internet cloud. Microsoft has designed the new app for the Android powered tablets as well as the Apple’s iPads and iPhones. Kirk Koenigsbauer the vice president of Microsoft Office team said, “I’m pleased to announce the general availability of the new Word, Excel and PowerPoint apps for Android phone”.
The blog post by the corporate vice president added that the new applications will join the Office Apps for Android tablets and will complete the office experience for the millions of Android users across the globe. According to the feedback during the preview period, some features have been added like making it simple to connect to the digital file storage services Box and Google Drive with Microsoft’s own One Drive .
Microsoft has hoped that having the new applications will encourage more users to subscribe to the online Office 365 service.
