Kodak has finally realized that their woes are as a result of the Smartphone era and have decided to re-enter the market, not with a new camera but an Android Smartphone that will fight it out with the iPhone7 and Google Pixel XL. Kodak has joined forces with the Bullitt Group to develop Kodak Ektra, a distinctive gadget that is ideal for photographers.
Kodak Ektra is fitted with a 21 megapixel camera at the back and a striking 13 megapixel on the front. Developed for photography enthusiasts, the Kodak Ektra has easy to adjust portrait modes, an f2.0 aperture and optical image stabilization. The bokeh mode that comes with the phone’s camera allows users to create their own depth of field effects. As expected, users can manually adjust a number of settings such as white balance, ISO, shutter speed and more. This 4K camera is quite exciting; with Kodak announcing that users will be able to experiment with classic Kodak features such as Super 8 filters, vignettes and grains. These camera features mean that you will take more pictures will little or no editing.

For the hardware, the device is fitted with the Mediatek Helo X-20 Decacore processor, 3GB of Ram and 32GB of storage space; this should me more than enough for high intensity app users. The Ektra has a 5-inch Corning Gorilla Glass protected screen. On the software end, the phone has Android 6.0 Marshmallow installed and supports Snapseed functionality; users can, therefore, edit their images and photos on the go. The Kodak Ektra has a 3000mAH non-removable battery that supports fast charge capabilities using a USB-C cable.
From what we know, the phone will be exclusively sold in Europe later this year but it’s not yet confirmed when the North American launch will happen.
