Sony Playstation Games for iPhone and Android Phones to be Rolled Out in 2017

The List Includes Hot Shots Golf, Yo-kai Watch and Project Field

As earlier reported, Sony has now unveiled the plans it has with ForwardWorks, a new studio it created to renew its efforts in mobile gaming. At an event in Japan, the electronics giant made public what is to be expected in the coming year.

Classic original Sony PlayStation games are bound to hit mobile variants. Some of the titles include Arc The Lad and Wild Arms, both of which are role-playing games, and Parappa The Rapper, a rhythm game.

Another announcement from the company is Project Field. This is a card collection platform that makes use of physical cards working hand in hand with a smartphone app. Part of this will be Yo-Kai Watch for mobile. This is a very popular series on the Nintendo 3DS and Japan.

The joint project will bring together Square Enix and ForwardWorks. More details will be made available at a later date.

  • Arc The Lad Wild Arms
  • Hot Shots Golf
  • Yomawari
  • No Heroes Allowed! DASH!
  • Doko Demo Issho
  • Boku no Natsuyasumi
  • Sora to Umi no Aida
  • Project Field
  • Yo-kai Watch

These PlayStation games for phone are bound to first hit the Japanese and select Asian markets before being rolled out to the rest of the world.

There have been Sony PlayStation games designed for mobile devices in the past. However, those were mainly for promotional purposes. In the past Run Sackboy! Run! a spin-off of popular PlayStation platform, LittleBigPlanet graced mobile devices as did Knack’s Quest and Ratchet & Clank: Before the Nexus.

This time around, Sony is looking at revenue generation with the release of these Sony PlayStation games for mobile.

According to a press release by ForwardWorks, the studio will incorporate the intellectual property of software titles coupled with the expertise and knowledge gained over the years at PlayStation to come up with gaming applications that run optimally on smartphones in Japan and Asia. The users will also get the opportunity to enjoy full-fledged game titles on their smart devices.
